Transactional Websites & EDI Services

Conduit has clients in a broad range of industries in New Zealand and Australia. Here is a brief overview of the transactional websites and EDI services we have provided for them.

Repco Limited, market leader in the New Zealand and Australian retail and distribution markets for automotive parts and accessories, selected Conduit to provide fully hosted and managed electronic data exchange (EDI) services to support Repco’s substantial procurement activities.

Repco’s procurement with its top 150 suppliers is fully automated by EDI with over 5000 purchase orders being produced per month. Conduit delivers these in a variety of electronic forms, including XML, EDIFACT, ANSI and Flat File formats within minutes of receiving the original data from Repco.

For its previous electronic transactions with suppliers, Repco had been using an internal EDI solution deployed by former owner Pacific Dunlop. However, the company recently recognised the need to review its technology requirements and worked with an IT partner to develop a tailored solution that enhanced their IT investments.

In selecting Conduit, Repco is now experiencing significantly in greater efficiencies, faster turnaround times and increased reliability, in addition to new services in the areas of reporting and transaction management.

Bidvest Australia Limited, Australasia’s largest foodservice wholesale distributor, provides its 20,000 customers with Conduit’s integrated information & order service website.

In addition to a full product catalogue and order processing, users have customer specific pricing, full visibility of account records, a customisable order form and the capability for the customer to establish their own reporting requirements, providing information on past purchases, invoices, price lists and status of orders. Bidvest operates 15 branches throughout Australia. Customers are automatically linked to their local Bidvest branch and local information including inventory. Once placed, their orders will flow through the Bidvest system and be dispatched from the local Bidvest warehouse.

Since the introduction of the transactional website many of Bidvest’s trading partners have realised the advantages of sending and receiving files electronically, and as a consequence Bidvest has continued to extend their eCommerce capability by sending and receiving orders and invoices electronically from their trading partners.

Office Products Depot is New Zealand’s largest locally owned business to business supplier of office products with 40 licensed dealers nationally. The challenge for Office Products Depot with its independent dealer network has been to establish centralised systems for communication within the group and provision of online services to customers for internet procurement and related activities.

In December 2002 Office Products Depot relaunched their online services, now deployed on Conduit’s hosted online service. The new service provides customers with full product catalogue and search including private catalogues and customised pricing per customer.

All content is administered by the Office Products Depot national office and/or dealers. The group’s strategic suppliers also have the option to be fully integrated into Office Products Depot’s trading community, thereby automating their product catalogue information and pricing.

SellAgence Limited, exclusive market and brand management representatives in NZ for the Gillette and Ferrero brands, had been a long-time user of a US based electronic document/data exchange (EDI) system for electronic communication of transactions and reporting with its suppliers and customers.

With a requirement to establish a locally supported system, SellAgence selected Conduit’s hosted document exchange to provide services to connect them with new and existing trading partners to exchange electronic invoices, orders and sales data. Conduit manages all transport and translation of files with trading partners, exchanging data with SellAgence in a consistent file format by FTP.

Critical to SellAgence is that customer orders are processed in very specific timeframes, due to the fast moving nature of the products they distribute and the supply-chain practices employed by larger retail customers. The ability of Conduit to provide extremely high availability and rapid translation turnaround ensures these demands are met and ensures the smooth flow of order processing and goods despatch.
